Sri Somasundara Swamigal

Shri La Somasundara Sivachariyar was born on March 9, 1967, to Mr. Sambasivam and Mrs. Girugujambal in Thirukurakaval, Mayiladuthurai District. After completing his early schooling, he decided to attend a Vedic school. He spent three years training under TS Sammantham at Cuddalore OT, where he began to explore the concept of natural order and the power beyond human consciousness.

During his Vedic studies, he had the opportunity to serve at the Samayapuram Mariamman Temple for three years. It was here that he witnessed devotees expressing their faith through intense acts like carrying fire and piercing their bodies with tridents. This experience deepened his understanding of the powerful forces beyond human perception.

To further his spiritual journey, he sought out many scholars and eventually reached the Guruvayoorappan Temple at Guruvayoor, where he met his mentor, Shri Narayana Namboothiri. Under his guidance, Shri La Somasundara Sivachariyar studied Dasa Maha Vidya Upasana for three years. He learned that the Vedas are cherished by people, good deeds resonate with the world’s promise, and this belief reflects the supreme presence of God. The goddesses of Dasa Maha Vidya, represented by various planets, harmonize with the Navagrahas.

Understanding that human senses and natural law operate according to the Navagrahas, he began performing various rituals such as japam, yagnas, and namasankirtan, traveling through many cities. During this period, he served for four years at the Rajarajeswari Temple in Ampang, Malaysia, where he blessed many devotees and alleviated their afflictions.

Upon returning to Chennai, he settled in Tharakeswari Nagar, Sembakkam, Tambaram. Here, he built a temple dedicated to Shri Rajarajeswari Amman and performed numerous yagnas that helped cure diseases and overcome calamities for devotees. In addition, with the help of veda mantras, illness will be treated.

The temple quickly grew in popularity as more devotees flocked to seek blessings. To honor this growth, Somasundara Swamigal decided to commission a Panchaloha Vigraham of Shri Mahasodashi Amman, weighing around five tons, to be consecrated at Walajabhad,Uthukadu(631605) near Kanchipuram.
